Creating a Goal from a Default or Custom Goal View
Overview
Default Team or Employee Goal Views
All goals that have been set for teams or individuals in your organization are organized automatically into default team or employee goal views (for more details on setting goals, see Goal Center article). When you look at these default views, you will see 100% of the goals for that team or individual.
You can access these default views by clicking Goals in the top navigational header. The last goal page you viewed will be selected. You can click the dropdown arrow next to the goals page name to navigate to the default goal view for any team or individual in your organization.
Custom Goal Views
What if you only want to see a very specific set of goals? Perhaps you want to view a subset of your team’s goals (e.g., only your weekly goals), or understand the status of certain types of goals (e.g., only pipeline hygiene goals) from across the organization.
You can create a Custom Goal View, configured to see only the goals you want, and then save it for easy access.

How to use Custom Goal Views
Creating a Custom Goal View
You create a new Custom Goal View by clicking "+ New Goal View" and build up from there or by duplicating an existing Default Goal View or Custom Goal View and adjusting the goal view from there.
From the "+ New Goal View" Button
- Click Goals in the top navigation header.
- Click "+ New Goal View" button in the top right corner of the page.
- Chose what teams and/or individuals you want to include in this new goal view.
- Adjust the filters for this goal view and select what goals you want to include!
- Click Create Goal View to finish.
From the Shortcut Button
- Click the + sign in the top navigation bar and then select "New Goal View".
- Follow steps 3-5 stated above.
By duplicating a Default Team or Employee Goal View
- Click Goals in the top navigation header.
- Select the default team or employee goal view you want to use as a foundation. You can choose from the Teams or Employees sections in the dropdown list (click the dropdown arrow next to the currently displayed goal view’s title). You can also search for any goal view by name.
- Click the Duplicate button.
- Give your Custom Goal View a title and write a description that will remind you about what types of goals (or for whom) the view shows.
- Click Save.
- Now that the view has been duplicated, click the Edit button to change the configuration.
- If you want to show all goals with certain attributes (including new goals that might be created in the future), select "Dynamic Goal View", and set up the filters to define the type of goals you want displayed. If you want to choose the specific goals you want to see (and not include new goals that might be created in the future), select "Fixed Goal View". You can still use the filters to narrow the set of goals you want to display, but your Custom Goal View will only display the specific goals you select.
- Click Save. (If you want to abandon your changes without saving them, click the X on the left side of the configuration page to close the popover without saving.)
By duplicating another Custom Goal View
You can also create a Custom Goal View by leveraging another Custom Goal View you previously created.
- Click Goals in the top navigation header.
- Select the Custom Goal View you want to use as a foundation. You can choose from the Custom Goal Views section in the dropdown list (click the dropdown arrow next to the currently displayed goal view’s title). You can also search for any goal view by name.
- Follow the remaining steps listed above to configure the view as you wish, then click Save.
Accessing Custom Goal Views
You can access a Custom Goal View in several ways. The most common are these methods:
- Click the search box in the top navigation header and type the name of the goal view you want to open.
- Click Goals in the top navigation header, then click the dropdown arrow next to the currently displayed goal view’s title and select the goal view you want to open.
- Add the Custom Goal View to a folder and access from the Folders section in the left rail
Adding a Custom Goal View to a Folder
To add a Custom Goal View to a folder:
- Open the Custom Goal View you want to add to a folder.
- Click Add to folder under the goal view's title and select the folder(s) to which you want to add the goal view.
Renaming a Custom Goal View
To change the name of your Custom Goal View or modify the description:
- Access the Custom Goal View you want to edit
- Choose Edit Title & Description from the ellipses (...) menu.
The name you choose must be unique among all of your Custom Goal Views. It can, however, be the same name of a Custom Goal View someone has shared with you.
Sharing a Custom Goal View
You can share a Custom Goal View with other members of your organization.
- Access the Custom Goal View you want to edit
- Choose Share from the ellipses (...) menu.
After you share a Custom Goal View, the people with whom you have shared can easily find the Custom Goal View in their Shared with Me page.
Deleting a Custom Goal View
To delete a Custom Goal View, access the Custom Goal View you want to edit and choose Delete from the ellipses (...) menu.
Note that when you delete a Custom Goal View, the goals on that view are not deleted and still remain on other Custom Goal Views (depending on how they are configured) and always remain on the default team or employee goal views. To completely delete a goal, you must do so from the default goals page.
Creating a Goal from a Default or Custom Goal View
Custom Goal Views enable you to configure a view, selecting from existing goals. But what if you would like to create a new goal to display on a goal view? No problem. To add a goal from a default team or employee goal view:
- Access any default team or employee goal view
- Either hover over the goals grid to click "Set a Goal" or Click the ellipses (...) menu.
- Select Set a Goal.
- Select the team or individual for whom you want to create a goal
- Select a metric.
- Configure the goal as you desire.
- Click Save.
To add a goal from a Custom Goal View:
- Follow the same steps listed above!
- If the Custom Goal View is a Dynamic Goal View, the newly added goal will automatically be added to the Custom Goal View.
- If the Custom Goal View is a Fixed Goal View, the newly added goal will only be displayed in the Custom Goal View if it matches the existing Custom Goal View filters.

FAQs and Additional Details
Why can’t I configure Default Team or Employee Goal Views?
Default team and employee goal views are automatically configured by Atrium, and show every goal for the given team or employee. When new goals are created in the future for the given team or employee, they will also show up in these default views.
You cannot configure, rename or delete these default views because they are the mechanism by which anyone in our organization can review any existing goal.
If you want to create a Custom Goal View, click the "+ New Goal View" button and follow the steps listed here.
Can I customize what Goal View I see on Profile Pages?
Yes! Atrium allows you to customize any Profile Page to show any Goal View (Default or Custom) that you have access to. For example, if you are an AE Manager who is focusing on balancing new opportunities owned for your reps this quarter, you can adjust your team's Profile Page to show your New Opp Inflow Goal Set.
These settings will only apply to your logged in experience. It will not change what Goal View other logged in users will see. So if you logged in and changed your team's Profile Page to show the New Opp Inflow Goal Set and then one of your reps logged into Atrium and viewed the team Profile Page, they will not see your settings but instead, whatever they last changed it to.
Profile Pages will default to showing the Team or Employee Default Goal View.
What is the different between a Fixed Goal View and a Dynamic Goal View?
Summary of Goal View Type filter
View Type | Fixed Goal View Behavior | Dynamic Goal View Behavior |
Default Team or Employee Goal View |
N/a (all Default Goal Views are dynamic and display all goals for that team or individual) |
N/a (all Default Goal Views are dynamic and display all goals for that team or individual) |
Custom Goal View |
Displays only the existing goals you choose | Displays all existing and future goals, based on the filters you choose |
If I choose a Fixed Goal View, what happens to new goals created in the future?
If you choose the Fixed Goal View type for your custom view:
- Goals created in the future will appear in the configuration page but they will not be automatically displayed. You must check those goals in the configuration page before they can be displayed on your Custom Goal View.
If you always want to show all existing and future goals on your Custom Goal View, you must select Dynamic Goal View.
What are the components in a Goal View?
Goal Status Summary
Default Team Goal Views and Custom Goal Views will display a goal status summary that summarizes the status of all goals displayed in the Goal View.
When you hover over each bar, a tooltip will show what goal(s) are in this status.
There are 4 goal status states:
- Red: Goal was missed
- Orange: Goal is at risk
- Green: Goal is ahead or was hit
- Grey: Goal is on track
The order in which employees and teams are displayed depends on the type of Goal View.
- Default Team Goal Views always display the given team’s goals first, and then displays all sub teams and direct report employees in order from worst performing to best performing against their goals.
- Custom Goal Views display all teams or employees in order from worst performing to best performing against their goals.
Default Employee Goal Views will not have a goal status summary, and only display the goal details table.
Goal Details Grid
Default Team Goal Views and Custom Goal Views will display a goal details grid that shows the detailed status of all goals displayed in the Goal View.
The order in which employees and teams are displayed depends on the type of Goal View.
- Default Team Goal Views always display the given team’s goals first, and then displays all sub teams and direct report employees in alphabetical order.
- Custom Goal Views display all teams alphabetically first and then employees alphabetically after.
Each column in the grid summary can be toggled to show you either the in progress goal status for “this” time period, or the results from the “last” time period. Atrium defaults these columns using the following logic:
- Weekly column: Noon on Tuesday (in the user’s time zone) is the cut off for switching from “recently completed” to “in progress” goal display for weekly goals
- Monthly column: The 3rd business day of the month is the cutoff for switching from “recently completed” to “in progress” goal display for monthly goals
- Quarterly column: The 2nd Friday of the quarter is cutoff for switching from “recently completed” to “in progress” goal display for quarterly goals
Within the goals details grid, you can hover over each goal and view details. This hover tooltip will show you the goal target, the current or final result, the status, and a result projection if applicable. You can then click “view details” to open this goal’s metric card.
Default Employee Goal Views will not have a goal details grid, but instead will display an even more detailed goal details table.
